The Proconsul Editions is headed by Rosemary Sheridan. We are based in Amsterdam and New York and we produce editions and multiples that play with ideas about 'the past' and 'the other'. 

We think that the past is indeed another country, and so are other countries. And in both cases, they do things differently there.

We believe that history on any scale, from the personal to the geologic, is made of the questions that we in the present ask about the past, and of the reasons we ask those particular questions. And we find that very interesting. 

We are currently undergoing a strategic redesign, and will re-emerge at the beginning of 2012. Punctuated equilibrium.

The Proconsul Editions is een onderneming van Rosemary Sheridan, gevestigd in Amsterdam en New York. The Proconsul produceert edities en multiples die spelen met ideeën over 'het verleden' en 'de ander'.

The Proconsul ziet dat 'the past is another country', maar het is ook wel zo met andere landen. En in beide gevallen, ze doen ze er wel anders.

Volgens ons is de geschiedenis, op iedere schaal (van de persoonlijke tot de geologische), gevormd door de vragen die mensen stellen over het verleden. De reden waarom we specifieke vragen stellen speelt daarbij een hele grote rol. Wij zijn gefascineerd door dit gegeven.

We zijn momenteel bezig met een strategische redesign, en zal als een vlinder uit een cocon openbreken begin 2012.
